Could it be that the English poet, Thomas Hood, had the Lairhillock in mind when he talked of, “homemade dishes that drive one from home”?
The very expression, homemade, conjures in the mind a picture of a bustling, country kitchen filled with the freshest of produce and dishes made the traditional way – starting with a scrubbed and blank preparation board.
That picture IS the Lairhillock.
Very much a family business – and a family which holds the inn in great affection - we pride ourselves on a firm policy that everything is cooked freshly; that our basic ingredients are the best available; and that our produce is the freshest because it is local.
But there’s a lot more to the Lairhillock than our reputation established over many years for simply fabulous food.
Think of open wood fires crackling and fizzling as their flames cast capering shadows over low, beamed ceilings. Think of cosy nooks and crannies to slide into and an atmosphere than cannot help but induce that warm glow of contentment and well-being. Think of that wonderful homemade food accompanied by a lovely wine or a warming malt and you’re thinking of the Lairhillock.
Inn, conservatory and snug
When the earth rings like iron under our boots and the landscape is stripped to its bare essentials on a favourite walk there’s nothing quite like that distinctive whiff of woodsmoke flirting with you as you wander our ‘steaky’ passages into the Inn, conservatory or snug and sink into a comfortable seat with our menu. The welcome you receive warms you well before any of our real fires or fine wines and whiskies have a chance.
The Crynoch Function Suite
There’s always something ‘eventful’ happening at the Lairhillock but when it’s your event it’s important that the venue is somewhere in which you have every confidence that it will be one to remember. You need have no worries at Ostlers, our delightfully quirky function annex. With the kitchen and staff of the Lairhillock behind it your special event instinctively becomes our special event.
The 16 en-suite room Lairhillock Lodge is now open adjacent to tne Inn
